Travel Impressions Best of the Best - Day 5 (Departure Day)

Posted: 11-19-12

Today was our departure day and we left Mexico this afternoon.

This morning, Amy and I woke up and got our bags packed since we are leaving for the Cancun airport around 12:15 PM.

After we got our bags packed, we decided to grab breakfast at The Market Cafe. We also ate lunch at The Market Café yesterday when we arrived. The food is buffet style. For breakfast, they had a large selection of bacon, eggs, an assortment of meats and cheeses, and a variety of different fruit juices. They also had an omelet bar where you could order the omelet of your choice. I had a bagel and Cantaloupe. Amy had bacon, some fruit and an iced tea.

After breakfast, we decided to explore Secrets The Vine and take some pictures before we had to leave. We went to the Preferred Club lounge on the 21st floor of the resort. It was smaller than most Preferred Club lounges, but there was a balcony that had an amazing view of the ocean. They even had a telescope on the balcony for anyone to use to check out the amazing view. The lounge also had breakfast options, such as yogurts, juices and croissants for Preferred guests.

One thing that was confusing about this resort were the elevators. Some elevators only go to the odd floor numbers, while the others only go to the even floors. This is because of the way the resort is set up. Amy and I couldn't figure out why our floor (number 15) was not an option. So we had to ask an employee and he directed us around the corner to another set of elevators where floor number 15 could be accessed.

After we got pictures, we went to the Preferred pool that was located on the 12th floor of the resort. It was windy, but there were still a good amount of people that were laying outside enjoying the sun. At the pool, there was poolside service where employees would come around and offer moist towels and take drink orders for those who were outside. Amy ordered and iced tea and I ordered a diet coke. The pool is really unique. It overlooks the oceans on both sides.

After we left the pool, we went back to our Preferred Club Master Suite and got showered before the bell boy came to take our bags to the front where we met our transfers. We had private transfers with Olympus tours. The ride to the Cancun Airport was no longer than 15 minutes so this is a good resort if you want to be closer to the airport. When we arrived, a man from Olympus took our suitcases and escorted us to the US Air desk to get our boarding passes. Since Amy is a preferred flyer, we moved very quickly.

We had no problems on our flights and everything went smoothly. We had one connection in Charlotte, North Carolina. When we got to Immigration, it was pretty crowded. We were a little worried because our connection was tight, but we just made it by the skin of our teeth. We arrived back in Harrisburg, PA around 9:30PM.

We would like to thank you for following along and sharing the honor of being The Best of the Best and our Globe Award. We could not do it without our wonderful Dream Clients and suppliers and appreciate all that you do. Thank you!
