Travel Impressions Best of the Best - Day 2

Posted: 11-15-12

Today we started off the morning with a buffet breakfast in the Cypress Ballroom at the Paradisus resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

After breakfast, we attended a seminar where we learned more about Mexico and the exciting new excursions that are now available. Some examples of the excursions include exploring the Chichen Itza which is one of the 7 wonders of the world. On this tour, you can walk through this Maya monument and view one of the most impressive empires in the world. Another famous example is Xcaret, which is an eco-archaeological park in Playa del Carmen. This theme park is located right on the water. While inside, you can float through underground rivers, or you can do one of the optional tours that Xcaret offers, one of the most famous excursions is swimming with the dolphins.

We also learned about the new destinations that Travel Impressions offering. One of the new tours is the Wendy Wu Tours for China. On these tours, you can go through the city of Beijing, visit the Great Wall of China, experience the wonderful scenery at the Yangtze River and much more.

The next presentation was for Israel Tours. On these tours, client will get to visit the Old City of Jerusalem, the New City of Jerusalem-Bethlehem, the Yad Vashem (the memorial to the Holocaust) and much more.

After the presentations, we met with suppliers and attended a trade show. We met face to face with the resort contacts that we work with and got valuable, updated information from our preferred resorts such as Secrets Resorts and Spas, El Dorado Resorts, Sandals and Beaches, Iberostar just to name a few.

In the afternoon, we stopped by the adult only pool for a short time of relaxation. The adult only pool at the Paradisus is relaxing, but also entertaining. The music was upbeat, and a few people were even participating in a water aerobics class. Drink and food service was available and was friendly. Amy and I both ordered chips and salsa. They were a good snack to hold us over until dinner.

Later in the afternoon Amy and I went back to the room and got ready to go visit the El Dorado Maroma and El Dorado Generations Maroma in Playa del Carmen. It was about a 15 minute car ride from the Paradisus to the El Dorado Generations Maroma. This resort is an all-inclusive, family resort. This resort is newly open to reservations/guests and has a total of 30 rooms. Guests who are 16 years and older are welcomed to use any of the facilities of at El Dorado Maroma.

The rooms at this resort includes seven suite categories:

·        Luxury Jacuzzi Suite – accommodates 2 adults and 2 children

·        Luxury Swim Up Jacuzzi Jr. Suite – accommodates 2 adults and 2 children

·        One Bedroom Family Suite – accommodates 2 adults and 3 children

·        One Bedroom Family Suite Swim Up - accommodates 2 adults and 3 children

·        Two Bedroom Family Suite – accommodates 5 adults and 3 children or 4 adults and 5 children

·        Two Bedroom Family Suite Swim Up - accommodates 5 adults and 3 children or 4 adults and 5 children

·        Three Bedroom Family Suite – accommodates 7 adults and 5 children or 6 adults and 7 children

We were greeted by the staff at El Dorado Generations Maroma with a cool drink and a moist towel. We met Martina, the sales manager of the resort. She showed us around the property and gave us a tour of a few room categories.

The suites in the Generations section that we saw were very spacious and would be perfect for a wedding group or a large family (children cannot stay at the El Dorado Maroma). We saw a One Bedroom Family Suite which was very spacious and had a convenient lay out. This suite has a maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 3 children. The One Bedroom Family Suite has a kitchen, a living room, one bathroom, two showers (inside and outside shower) and a great balcony that overlooked the pool.

Guests who are traveling with infants or toddlers can also take advantage of the Gourmet Inclusive baby amenities such as strollers, cribs; pack and plays, baby changing tables, monitors, baby bottle warmers, baby bath robes and more.

This resort has a kids club called the Eko Club. This kids club allows kids ages 4 years to 12 years to participate in their supervised activities. Children who are under the age of 4 years old require adult supervision. The El Dorado Generations Maroma also offers additional babysitting and nanny services as well.

This resort has two bars, the Chakay Restaurant and Swim Up Bar and the Sunset Bar. The Chakay Restaurant and Bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features GI Premium Beverages. The menu is ala carte.

The Sunset Bar is a rooftop bar that has a great view of the sunsets that take place in the evening.

After visiting the El Dorado Generations Maroma, we followed Martina next door to the El Dorado Maroma, which is an All Inclusive/Adult Only resort. This company prides itself on their Gourmet Inclusive experience and we highly recommend all of their resorts. The restaurants at El Dorado Maroma are:

  • Papitos Gourmet Beach Club -This restaurant has an ocean view and contains a lunch themed menu (The Chef Brochettes, Boutique Burger, Taco Bar, Fish Market, BBQ, Spanish Paella and The Prime Rib).
  • Sabores - This cuisene is New Mexican Caribbean. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They even have a Thai Night (Tuesdays only), Mayan Night (Wednesdays only), Italian Night (Thursdays only) and Mexican Night (Saturdays only).
  • Kiyoko - This is the oriental restuarant at El Dorado Maroma. Some of their most famous dishes are Sushi, Sashimi, Teppanyaki.and much more. This restaurant is only open for dinner, which is 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
  • Mio Cuccina Italiana - This restaurant features Italian dishes such as Ocean Fresh Fish Carpaccio, Fruti di Mare and exquisite pasta. Mio Cuccina Italiana is also only opened for dinner (5:30 PM to 10:00 PM)

We got to see a Presidential Suite which was two floors and had an amazing ocean view. This suite includes butler service and 24 hour room service. The fridge is stocked daily with Haagen Dazs icream and drink beverages of your choice. There is a kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, an outside shower, Jacuzzi tub, private patio, private plunge pool and a fabulous view of the ocean. This suite was amazing.

The most impressive part about this resort is the beach. It is absolutely gorgeous with white sand and a lot of space. If you are looking for an intimate experience and a great beach, this resort would be perfect for you. This resort is not ideal for someone who is seeking a party atmosphere.
